Austin Preparatory School Reviews

Private was the best thing we did for our daughter. Teachers knew her & worked on her strengths or challenges. The extra attention got her into a great college and prepared her well.

After our daughter's first year at Austin we have nothing but praise for this school. She has met wonderful kids, been placed in challenging classes and had an overall great experience. While I do think that there are some administrators that take the rules to an extreme level, I do not think this takes away from the experience. I encourage you to take a look at Austin.

I am a current student at Austin Prep, and I am eagerly awaiting my graduation. The teachers are fantastic for the most part, In my four years here, I have had some really amazing teachers who have truly enriched my learning experience. Unfortunately, the clubs are lackluster if they are anything at all, no organization or effort is put into these extracurricular. With the addition of the new athletic director, the sports teams are once again looking strong with new coaches and new equipment that wasn't there before. The administration is making rules, such as 'no hugging' and 'no colored socks,' stamping out any potential for creativity and individuality for the students. There is a lack of respect for students by the administration.

The school discourages parental involvement. The only input the school seems interested in receiving from parents is money. The quality of academic programs is fair - certainly no better than the average public school, but at a much greater price. The administration appears to be much more concerned with rules than the quality of education being offered. Form over substance! The school has gone down hill considerably over the last few years and getting worse. I would discourage anyone from sending a youngster to this school

Nothing but praise for the excellent staff, faculty and administration. Students' curriculum is intense and challenging; they learn to accept responsibilities and set priorities to focus, concentrate and complete tasks; individual and teambuilding skills are also developed. There are no surprises here. Everything is explained in detail prior to admissions. Families are cautioned to think very carefully about making a commitment prior to becoming a part of the Austin community. The students here work very hard but also enjoy extra curricular activities during and after school time. Parents are also encouraged to participate in numerous fun activities. Austin is the present and future of Catholic education.

This school was better 10 years ago than it is now! The tuition is high and the quality of education is fair. The administration recruits only rich families regardless of the level of intelligence or moral values. There are few, if any, minorities and the financial assistance goes to the athletes.

I went to Austin for seven years, it was the worst years of my life. Strongly discourage attending. Austin grads must take excelorated courses in college. St. Johns Prep is much better.
